Cavotec has signed an order for shore power with a global shipping company, valued at approximately US$5m.

PowerFit

The order includes a substantial number of PowerFit shore power units, which enable vessels to connect to shore power while docked. Deliveries are scheduled for later in 2024. PowerFit is a complete containerized solution and includes all equipment for a high-voltage shore connection: PowerAMPReel, high-voltage switchboard, control panel, high/low voltage transformer and other auxiliary systems for ease of operations.

Cavotec’s PowerFit units offer complete containerized solutions for high-voltage vessel connections and, by facilitating shore power connections, they can help reduce air and noise pollution in ports.

Decarbonization partnership

“This partnership with a global shipping company is yet another confirmation of the strength of our offering,” said Patrick Mares, president of ports and maritime division at Cavotec. “Our innovative shore power systems contribute to the decarbonization of ports worldwide as well as quieter port environments.”

In related news, Cavotec recently signed a contract to retrofit vessels with shore power solutions for a major European shipping line. The order value is US$5.7m and deliveries are scheduled throughout 2024. Click here to read the full story.
