TECO 2030 completes component procurement for first FCM400 fuel cell module

To enable the assembly of its first fuel cell module (the FCM400), TECO 2030 has completed the selection and procurement of components from a range of major suppliers. This important milestone means that the company can now assemble the first units, aided by AVL.

TECO 2030’s first FCM400 will be constructed at AVL’s site in Graz, Austria during Q2 of 2022. Once built, the system will undergo scheduled operation in AVL’s advanced testbed for complete simulation and refinement.

Having completed the design and engineering stage, the fuel cell development project will now move into the build and validation stage. The FCM400 will also be subjected to advanced testbed operations in Q3 of 2023.

The FCM400 is part of TECO 2030’s Fuel Cell Power System, which has been designed for an electrical capacity of 400kW. TECO believes the solution will help facilitate zero emissions within the maritime sector.

“The milestone proves maturity of the product details and is a step toward reaching our final product design,” said Tore Enger, group CEO at TECO 2030. “In other words, a clear indication of development progressions as we move into a new step in the development project timeline, according to our schedule.

“Zero-emission fuel cell power sources for heavy-duty and marine applications are very soon ready for market introduction, and we are ready to provide clients with fuel cells performing like never seen before. The FCM400 will undoubtedly become a propulsion game-changer in the marine industry.”
