Hamburg-based transport company HADAG has announced that it has put a new diesel-electric harbour ferry into operation Delivered following 10 months of planning, design and construction by Hamburg shipbuilder Pella Sietas, the vessel, called Elbphilharmonie, features a diesel-electric drive with two propellers and a flat iron optimized hull form. It is just under 30m long, 8.4m wide and can accommodate 400 passengers. HADAG operates 25 vessels and is responsible for all ferry traffic in HamburgÂ’s harbour in cooperation with the HVV Transport Alliance. It works across 20 piers and serves more than eight million passengers a year.
