A technical agreement has been signed between Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) and Akasaka Diesels Limited (Akasaka) for the development and promotion of next-generation fuel engines for the maritime sector.

J-ENG is currently working on the development of ammonia fuel and hydrogen fuel engines under the Green Innovation Fund project by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

The technology developed and used in these next-generation fuel engines could also be applied to newer types of fuel including methanol, and will provide great potential for the future development.
