Stillstrom by Maersk has launched two standalone offshore charging systems addressing power supply challenges for vessels operating at sea.
The new systems, Power Hub and Power Tower, are designed to provide flexible charging infrastructure independent of wind turbine assets, allowing deployment across both existing and future offshore wind developments.
The solutions are intended to support vessel electrification as offshore wind farms increase in size and move further from shore, where reliable access to power is critical for installation, maintenance and operations.
Koen Legrand, detailed engineering manager at Stillstrom, said, “Our two new monopile systems help to address the sector’s long-standing ‘chicken and egg’ challenge, where vessel electrification and infrastructure deployment must progress in step.”
He added that the Power Hub is a compact structure designed for installation within operational wind farms, enabling charging to be added to existing infrastructure. The Power Tower, meanwhile, is intended for new-build projects, installed using standard vessels and construction processes.
Stillstrom said the systems build on its existing portfolio of charging technologies, expanding options for developers and operators seeking to integrate offshore charging either within wind farm structures or as standalone installations.
Kristian Borum Jørgensen, CEO of Stillstrom, said, “Electrification of SOVs is essential if the wind industry is to meet its full decarbonization potential. What has been missing is the infrastructure to support it at sea.”
The launch follows ongoing research and development work within the company, including multiple patents related to offshore charging technologies. Legrand and colleague Raymond Bergmann were recently named Inventors of the Year 2025 by A.P. Moller-Maersk.
Stillstrom said the new systems are designed to improve scalability and installation efficiency, while supporting reduced reliance on maritime fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions in offshore wind operations.
The company is presenting the solutions at WindEurope in Madrid.
