DP World’s Marine Services business, Shipping Solutions, has named its first methanol dual-fuel vessel, DP World London, at a ceremony in Aarhus, Denmark, on August 31.
The 1,250 TEU container ship was built in China and delivered in April 2026. It is owned by Germany’s Elbdeich Reederei, operated by DP World’s Shipping Solutions business, and flagged in Portugal. The vessel will operate on the North Europe service.
Measuring 148m in length, DP World London is fitted with a five-cylinder main engine and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology to reduce emissions and support compliance with international environmental standards. It completed its first bunkering in Rotterdam on June 25, 2026, with Unibarge as bunkering partner and Methanex supplying the methanol.
The naming took place in Aarhus, where Shipping Solutions was founded as Unifeeder in 1977 before becoming part of DP World’s integrated Marine Services portfolio.

He added that the vessel strengthens the company’s integrated network across ports, terminals, marine services, inland logistics and freight forwarding.
The naming follows the recent introduction of DP World Indus to the company’s coastal shipping fleet in India, part of what DP World describes as continued fleet investment across key trade corridors.
