Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) Ltd has relocated MV Glen Rosa to Peel Ports’ Inchgreen Marine Park near Greenock in Scotland, to enable final commissioning tests on the vessel while the company’s Port Glasgow shipyard undergoes a planned transformation.
The relocation follows the vessel’s completion of its second dry dock works, finished ahead of schedule in mid-July. With handover to Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, Inchgreen’s deep-water facilities will support final quality assurance testing and sea trials later this year.
Back at Port Glasgow, work has officially begun on upgrading the yard into a digitally enabled shipbuilding facility. Planned improvements include advanced automated steel fabrication technology, electrical and safety infrastructure upgrades, and integrated digital management systems intended to streamline operations from design through delivery.
“Moving MV Glen Rosa to Inchgreen Marine Park allows us to achieve two vital strategic goals over the same time period: one focused on delivering MV Glen Rosa as quickly and efficiently as possible, and the other on preparing the yard for essential modernization works,” said Graeme Thomson, CEO at Ferguson Marine.

Inchgreen Marine Park’s deep-water access and marine facilities will allow the Ferguson Marine engineering team to prepare MV Glen Rosa for active service with the CalMac fleet.
MV Glen Rosa is a dual-fuel vessel and the second of two built in the UK, designed to serve Scotland’s west coast island communities.
