Italian startup DeepSpeed has released a video showing the first field tests of its new propulsion system, which sees an electric-powered hydro-jet mounted externally to a vessel’s hull. The system was unveiled at the Genoa Boat Show in 2019, but details of the inner workings of the propulsor remain secret. The company claims impressive efficiency gains over traditional props or inboard water-jet systems.
